The Rev. Errol Montgomery-Robertson
Father Errol is the founding Pastor and Priest-in-Residence of Lighthouse-St. Nicholas. Fr. Errol has served congregations in California, Indiana, Louisiana, and Mississippi. He earned a B.A. in Liberal and Religious Studies from California State University, and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Wisconsin. He was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1995.
With support of the former Mississippi Rainbow Center, Fr. Errol founded Lighthouse Community Church in January 2016 to address the spiritual needs of the LGBTQ+ community and allies along the Gulf Coast. Besides conducting worship, preaching/teaching, and administering the Sacraments, Fr. Errol provides pastoral care and ministerial services for parishioners and the wider community, connecting folks with spiritual resources, and building bridges with the greater Church and community-at-large. Fr. Errol has served as Chaplain to the Mississippi Rainbow Center and on its board of directors. He solemnized the first same-sex marriages in the six Mississippi coastal counties in 2015 when marriage equality was legalized nationwide.
Fr. Errol and husband Mike “Mick” Robertson, a long-time Coast realtor and musician, reside in Pass Christian. Together they have four grown sons, and three grandchildren. They have participated in public actions and demonstrations with the Campaign for Southern Equality and the Human Rights Campaign of MS advocating for LGBTQ+ equality and acceptance. They were legally married in California in 2014.
